I have been fortunate enough to travel to Haiti with a group of doctors to their clinic in rural Leogane. I had no idea what too expect when I arrived that first day. We stayed in a guest house which was a short walk through the sugar cane filed to the clinic. The first day we arrived bright and early for the morning appointments, and there must have been 50 people in line outside the clinic doors. Everyone was there to see the volunteer doctors who came to spend a week at the Rasin Foundation clinic. I was there to create photos for the Rasin Foundation website, photos of the doctors with patients. I quickly saw so many other photo opportunities standing outside of the clinic. There were infants, senior citizens, school age children, really it was people of all ages. There were no cars parked outside the door, not even a place for cars. Everyone standing there in line had walked from their homes to get to the clinic. The community had never had health care available to them in their village. They always had to figure out a way to go see a doctor miles away.
I realized that all of the people who were waiting to see the doctors represented the future of the Rasin Foundation clinic. Their need would help to keep the clinic alive. And that's when the fFaces of the Rasin Foundation came to be.
The two photos represented here are just a sample of the photos I created. All created with my iPhone.
